What Causes Stinging Sensation In Breasts?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: I had a mammogram and was called back for ultrasound and found thinking in left breast. I also have stinging, like bees stinging, in that breast. Sometimes I describe it as being frozen, my nipple, and it's thawing out. The pain can get pretty bad. Any ideas??

Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM

Detailed Answer:
These symptoms are nonspecific and it is hard to find exact diagnosis without ultarsound and biopsy or MRI scan. However, your symptoms may be related to some inflammatory process in breast, inflammed cyst or abscess or this is neurmuscular pain due to nerve irritation or pulled muscle in this area. if there is breast discharge or redness then this is obviously some infection Of course, tumors should be ruled out,but this is not first thing to think of. I would suggest MR scan to verify exact diagnosis Wish you good health. Feel free to ask.

I had staff infection and mastitis in left breast 2yrs ago and was having that stinging burning before then and it hasn't went away. I don't have any redness or discharge and don't think I've pulled a muscle. This is the second time I've had a follow up ultrasound after my mammogram bc of thickening. The first was with the infection and now this one, they didn't say anything about it last yr. Really the only pain is in the nipple and it gets worse if I lay on that side. Thank You for your suggestion much appreciated.

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
Well it is possible that this previous infection isn't completely healed and that chronic infection developed and thickening may be result of this infection residues. If nothing is detected with ultrasound then you don't have to be worried ,but try to check your inflammatory markers and if this is raised you should do MRIor pet scan. Wish you good health
