What Causes Stinging Sensation In The Thigh After A Total Knee Replacement Surgery?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jan 2017
Question: On 5 Dec, 16 I had total knee replacement surgery Right knee. My question is since then and even in the hospital for a few days I developed a sharp stinging in my left thigh. This was not a problem prior to surgery and am concerned because it does hurt especially at night when I roll over or move. Any information would be appreciated.

I still haven't received a reply. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Can be Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The sharp stinging sensation in the left thigh that you are having is not related to the knee replacement that you had. It can be due to a mild nerve root irritation at the level of lumbar spine or decreased levels of vitamin B12. You can get an MRI scan of the lower back done to find out the cause. Proper supplements and back strengthening exercises will help in reducing the problem.
I hope this answers your query.
