Brief Answer:
UTI or kidney stone

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question. It sounds like you may have a kidney stone. Pain from kidney stones can be severe and come and go as you describe. All kidney stones do not show up on sonograms, you need a CT scan to see some of them. You also need to be checked for urinary tract infection if they did not already do that. You may need to see a doctor today or go back to the ED if you are in a lot of pain. Drink lots of water and avoid anything with caffeine. The water can help pass the kidney stone if that is what is causing the pain. Caffeine makes you dehydrated and can make the pain worse. Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon.
