What Causes Stomach Bloating, Cramps And Excessive Thirst Post Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Aug 2015
Question: Hi, about 4 weeks ago I went on a trip, later on that night I had sex with a masseuse protected with two condoms worn at different times. I didn't orgasm and I don't believe anything popped, afterwards I was cleaned off and I personally cleaned myself off. Then I went out and had binged drank on an empty stomach. That week I came back I was bloated, cramped, very very thirsty found it hard to eat, I got hot, and lost weight, had shoulder pain and night sweats (which went a away week 2) I never vomited or nothing is swollen was constipated only had diarrhea 3 times but those was on different days for different reasons everything else was solid. At week 4 I'm feeling much better still have to watch what I eat cause my appetite picked up but I'm concerned that I might have to get tested I think the symptoms scared me I don't know. What's your thought?

Most probably GI upset

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. They symptoms you mentioned are more in favor of GI disturbance INSTEAD of STDs. Also when person goes on trips then environment changes. One eats unusual food. As a result stomach gets upset and such symptoms occur. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to get back to normal routine. Meanwhile following measures will help you to recover soon:

- Take lots of fluids( water, juices)
- Metronidazole thrice a day for 2 days
- take small frequent meals.
- take 30-45mins walk/exercise daily in the evening. It will make you fresh, healthy and is good for digestion.
- Don't lie down immediately after taking meal
- Eat a diet rich in fiber, especially from fruits and vegetables

> AVOID:
fatty & oily food.
spices
heavy meals at night
carbonated & caffine drinks
chocolates
sugar related products. They increase diarrhea

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Thanks for sending a check up message. Honestly at the time I was out of town again but I tried to follow the diet plan and it has been alright especially eating earlier cause if I didn't my nights rest would be hot and disturbed. So I thank you for your helpful advice in the matter. But to add to that reading symptoms of stds and feeling the way I feel haven't been so encouraging. I got my blood work done yesterday but I got a feeling that it's not going to be good news on Tuesday or when ever the lady call. I say that cause it seems like my heart is beating at faster rate my mouth goes dry off and on along with color change of my tongue. All this have me nervous and still nothing's swollen no vomiting no rash no discharge no headache unless I wait too long to eat but that always been that way. No real fatigue I know many night's I found it hard to sleep so of course during the day you going to be tired. I haven't been in the gym for a month so there's parts that feel right every now and then I think on night my body felt sore for some reason I don't know. Long story short I worried cause I don't feel the way I did before the trip which give me doubts about the results.

Brief Answer:
Most probably stress/anxiety induced

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back. I'm glad that i was helpful.

I have gone through your current situation. I would suggest you to relax and do NOT worry. All your current symptoms are due to stress/anxiety. Secondly, you were doing gym earlier so when you leave gym then also your body gets loose. You absolutely need not to worry. As there is NO positive finding regarding STD in your complaint so hopefully all your tests will turn out to be normal. You can continue with your normal daily routine.

Thank You

Thank you for your positive response, I've been trying my best to adapt the same attitude. And yes it has been difficult cause my mind seems to replay the night cause I feel unsure. She was a high risk individual and even though I wore protection that I brought with me that I trust, I'm uncircumsised which increase my risk and I don't know too much about the condom she supplied and I wonder if she sabotaged it plus her fluids was everywhere. I been to many forums that said a break or not my risk was low or my symptom is not a symptom of an std and stay off online looking up symptoms but I still feel off. But I'm a try not to worry and stay as positive as I can be.

Hello

I would strongly recommend you to think positive. You are absolutely fine. If you will discuss this on every available forum then it will only increase your stress & tension. You will come across different people with different minds. They will guide you differently AND it will give NO benefit to you. So once again i would suggest you to relax and continue with your normal daily routine.

Thank You & wishing you good health

Hi thanks again for sending a check up message. I wanted to let you know that I got tested for everything on the 18th my blood was drawn by Labcorp and was tested on the 20th (so between 5 or 6 weeks from incident) and everything came out negative for stds (not sure which generation was used on the site it said blood test is done with ICMA). Right now I'm feeling better my upper abdominal haven't gave me a burning feeling and I'm eating more. Its taking a little time to get my sleep back but I have been getting rest, my tongue still have a light coat on it. It's not sore, and some time when I eat heavy food I get this wierd feeling in the mid part of my back on the left. Also at night while resting or after I eat it seems like my heart is beating at a faster rate than usual. As far as bathroom my stools are soft and I tend to go same time every morning then the rest of the day I haven't had to go. Not sure if it's from the grape seed extract I've been eating. Anyway I been doing better with not worrying I think I have to test again one final time to get out of the window period even though many forums said it's unlikely to change I need it for closure. But other then that this is how I've been. Thanks again for your positive words.

Is there a estimated recovery time? And could the drinking have led to an increased heart rate?

Brief Answer:
Usually takes a short period

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Increased heart rate is most probably due anxiety. As soon as it gets settled you will see improvement. As your test was negative so i would strongly suggest you to relax and do not worry.

Thank You
