Question : Hi.. I'm 18 weeks pregnant. Had cramping today from morning. Doctor saw the heart beat and told that the heart beat was normal. She told me it could be uti and prescribed sporidex along with dipen 10mg. Is it safe to take dipen and sporidex antibiotics?

                                    Brief Answer:
It is safe
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I understand your concerns about UTI.
Ideally urine culture and sensitivity test has to be done before starting antibiotics so that it is confirmed if organism responsible for UTI is susceptible to antibiotics.
However since you have started sporidex and dipen you can continue the same. These tablets are safe for you and baby. You can continue the same.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
Dr. Soumya

                                    Hi Doctor,
I have not started on the antibiotics sporidex. I have given my urine for culture. Thought of waiting for that.
This is the second time I'm having uti. I had taken ceftum last time. Will repeated uti cause any harm? Will having too many anti biotics cause harm. I just had one depin last night.. What are the side effects of dipen?
Y isn't my question getting answered

                                    Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Please dont start antibiotics without urine culture and sensitivity test.
That is why you got infection again though you took ceftum last time. This time wait for reports.
Depin was given thinking you have threatened abortion. It has to be used for preterm labour but some doctors use in situations like yours. Its not very much necessary. It might reduce blood pressure and cause headache and palpitations.
Too many antibiotics are not good for baby.

Thanks for your reply.
Will recurring uti cause any complications? What should be done to avoid complications like pre term labor?

                                    Brief Answer:
Get Urine culture and sensitivity test done
Detailed Answer:
You are right. Recurring UTI is not good and might lead to preterm labour if inadequately treated. Please get urine culture and sensitivity test done to treat it permanently as mentioned above.

                                    Hi Doctor,
I got my urine culture results. It says that I don't have urine infection. I did my 19 week anamoly scan. And doctors told that i have placenta previa. That's the reason most probably I got abdominal pain. The scan report says my placenta is completely covering the internal os. Will this placenta previa go away? What are the risk factors? Is bleeding gonna happen for sure?

Placenta will move up
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Placenta moves up as pregnancy advances. Hence you don't worry about placenta previa. This is temporary.
Good to know you don't have urine infection. Don't start antibiotics.
