Question : My 23 year old son has not been feeling good for the past 5 days his symptoms include bad stomach cramps,lethargy, also a lot of gas, bad, bad pain in one testicle and passing blood in his stools. Yesterday he went to hospital and was diagnosed with food poisoning. The diagnosis was given by a doctor who did not give my son a blood test or test his urine or his stools. He was given antibiotics and sent home. He feels a little better this morning but I'm still very worried. His paternal grandfather died of prostate cancer and I have NHL - marginal zone lymphoma stage 4 to bone marrow and lymphatic system. With cancer on both sides of the family I'm naturally over worried. How can a doctor diagnose food poisoning without giving my son any tests? Please help I'm a very worried mother. Thank you

Hi

With cancer in both sides of the family its very natural of you to be worried.

Since yor son is having symptoms such as stomach cramps, lethargy, also a lot of gas, bad, bad pain in one testicle and passing blood in his stools i would advise you to a CT scan of whole abdomen.

I would also advise you to do a blood test for complete blood count and stool for occult blood test.
