What Causes Stomach Pain After Taking Gabapentin?

Question: My daughter recently had a brain tumour removed and has been put on gabapentin 300 mg to ease pain ..... She is experiencing severe stomach pains and I was wondering if this drug would cause her the pain .... Secondly can she be taken off medication she has been on it for approx 3 weeks and if not what is an alternative drug that has the same nerve ending dulling that may not give her this stomach cramping .... Any help would be appreciated

I have noted your daughter's symptoms and the side effects.

If she is unable to tolerate gabapentin, she can be started on pregabalin capsules as an alternative, as pregabalin has similar action as that of gabapentin.

The usual starting dose of pregabalin is 50-75 mg once daily at night.
