Question : I had a tubal ligation in 2008 after my second child was born when I was 21. After the tubal I have had severe pain a week prior to my period and very heavy cycles. I'm still very regular as I have always been without birth control; however in the 4 past months they have become a normal flow( like prior to the tubal) and I'm experiencing puberty like symptoms such as my face breaking out and very emotional any time of the month and no more preperiod pain. There have been no changes in my diet or daily activity. My question is, is it possible my tubes are no longer blocked therefore reversing the problems I had from my tubal?
Brief Answer:
No reason for tubes to re open, HSG will confirm this.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I do not think you need to worry about the tubal ligation failing.
It is very rare to have spontaneous tubal recanalization.
Regarding the changes in your menstrual cycle, it is normal for women to experience some kind of changes in their period pattern at certain phases in life.
THat is a normal variation with age, and is not ominous until there is a significant outstanding issue.
However, you can clarify this doubt by getting an x ray done that will tell you if the tubes are still open or closed.
This procedure is called an HSG .
All the best
