What Causes Stress Incontinence After A C-section Delivery?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Jan 2017
Question: i just wet the bed for the first time since I was about 8 years old. I am female and 50.
One change that I have made recently is that I have started taking Latuda, about 2 months ago.
I had both of my children by caesarian, and have never had stress incontinence. However, I have noticed very recently (maybe for about a month) occasional instances where it is really hard to hold my urine, and have even had a little dribble when coming home and literally running to the bathroom.
Could it be the Latuda, or is it something else, like aging? In the interest of full disclosure, I am a heavy drinker (about 5 a day) and have bipolar disorder. I have been under tons off stress for the last week, and my 20-something children are visiting overnight for the first time since my separation from my husband in July. My divorce was finalized last Friday. I was feeling manic and had one Xanax at 8:00 in the evening and another at 1:30. Not a habit, but not unusual either.
Is this a side affect of the Latuda because of the sudden onset, or is it a result of aging or stress?
Are there any adverse effects from stopping to take Latuda immediately?

Brief Answer:
It could be over sedation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description I would say there is mixed reason for single episode of bed wetting considering the two caesarian sections, ongoing alcohol intake, benzodiazepine intake and history of almost stress incontinence.

If you ask me the most prominent reason I would say that excessive sedation is most likely cause which is contributed by alcohol, latuda and xanax.

I do not think Latuda is cause for incontinence as no such side effect reported in any otherwise healthy person.

I hope this answers you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
