Question : Hi, I had a doctor help me the other day, but I just wanted to followup, for a second opinion. I had a rough sexual encounter about a month ago, oral -- both giving and receiving. Then and the following week and a half I was in very cold climates, which I'm not used to, as I live on the west coast. A few days after the sexual encounter I got what looks like stretch marks /cuts on my foreskin and a little cut underneath the foreskin on my shaft. My foreskin looked dark, was dry, and mushy. The little cut has been there for about a month, and since then, I've been masturbating once or twice a day without any lubricants.

There's no discharge and very little irritation. Only when I think about it do I notice any irritation, which makes me think I'm just overthinking common itches.

The last doctor told me to stop masturbating and clean my penis thoroughly once or twice a day. It's starting to look better, but, again, just wanted another opinion.
Also, is there anyway I can send a photo?

Now I agree that a STI is a possibility, the type cannot be determined without testing. However, a lesion or a cut on skin for a month now is a serious business, even if it is starting to look better by cleaning.

I would therefore recommend a course of doxycycline. 90% infections respond to this antibiotic. Keeping the private parts clean will always help.

Thanks, Dr. Mittal. Looking more closely, I actually wouldn't call it a cut on the shaft, almost more like a piece of mushy skin. Originally it was a cut, but it cleared up. I've included a photo.

I'll go buy some doxycycline tonight.
Just read I need a subscription for doxycycline. Is there anything I can buy over the counter to help?

I think it would be good to meet a doctor for a prescription.
You see doxycycline is an antibiotic and all the antibiotics need a prescription.
So I think you will need to meet a dermatologist to give you a prescription.
Also I think I would suggest you the same medicine. As I said, the purpose of the medicine is to cover most of the conditions.

Completely helpful. Thank you very much. I'll try to see a doctor as soon I can. I'm glad the photo isn't too alarming. I just hope to God it's not herpes, which, from what I've read, I don't have many of the symptoms of.
