Brief Answer:
Ruling out vascular disturbance is priority...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There are various causes for sudden visual blurring. Of those, the concerning ones are related to cardiovascular system leading to reduced brain perfusion. Since you are alright now, it looks like things have autocorrected. However considering your age, I wouldn't take this lightly.

Therefore in this context, I strongly recommend you see your primary care physician. Blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol levels and other associated risk factor will need to be assessed. A scan of the brain is also entailed besides routine heart screening is essential.

I do not mean to cause a panic; but this needs medical attention at the earliest. Hope you got my message. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards

my doctor sent me for a brain scan, carotid artery scab and an echocardiogram. All seemed to be negative. Don't know what caused the fainting and the double vision!

Brief Answer:
Transient ischemic changes.

Detailed Answer:
As I mentioned in my previous reply you had the fainting and double vision most likely due to transient hypoperfusion of Posterior circulation arteries (of brain) not sufficient enough to cause permanent ischemic changes in the brain.

I'm very glad you got all those tests done. Normal brain scan, carotid doppler scan and Echocardiogram rules out serious ischemic risk factors. I hope all other blood test including cholesterol, homocysteine, blood sugar are fine. Please check with your doctor.

Based on the risk factors you should be started on appropriate risk control treatment. If there are none, then you will need every day aspirin or another antiplatelet drug.

I'll be available to guide you here if you don't get proper answers from your local doctors.

Regards and Merry Christmas!
