Posted on Wed, 11 Mar 2015
Question: I am a 41 yr old female on hormone replacement therapy for 13 years now. I have a very stressful career over last few weeks I have been getting "boils" on my back and 1 on my neck. Yesterday I had a sudden onset of deep mid calf pain when trying to walk. No known trauma.....my pertinent medical history is a full hysterectomy in 2002 due to severe endometriosis, a pituitary adenoma that was removed XXXXXXX 2014. I am worried about shingles or even worse.....thrombosis in my leg....... my last blood work was April 2014 and all was non remarkable or WNL

Brief Answer:
Need some help from you to clear your doubts ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Let us first start with your fear of this being shingles, for that you need to help me by answering a few of my questions which is the typical presentation or sequence of appearance of symptoms of shingles. They are:

+Did you experience pain in or around your heart, lungs or kidney regions (chest or lower back)?
+Was this pain followed by a blister like appearance of a rash, predominantly on one side of your torso (i.e. on either the left or right side of your back and chest) or around your eyes? The rash is also very painful.
+Itching of this region with the rash?
+Increased sensitivity in the region of the rash?

Now coming to the pain in the calf region and your back region with the boils (if some one can help you with that) you experienced ma'am. I would like to request you to take a clear picture of the calf which presented with pain and attach it to our discussion here or send it by email to:

+Pain slowly or gradually appearing?
+Long durations of standing in your life history?

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further and clear your doubts as well ma'am. Please do not worry, I shall surely help clear your doubts.
