Question : My 11 year old daughter just had an episode where she was afraid and I took her vitals. She had a heart rate of 137 and BP of 123/74. She was dizzy and shaking. Was this a panic attack. She is petite for her age at only 50 lbs but her doctor says she is height appropriate for her weight and she has always been small and grown slowly.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be a panic attack

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. The mentioned vitals indeed seem to indicate a panic attack. You need to reassure her. Calming her down should lower the BP and heart rate. If they still remain high, I think you should take her to the ER without any further delay.

About her weight and height, they need to be plotted on a growth chart. If her doctor says that her height and weight are appropriate, I do not think that you need to worry.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
