Brief Answer: Need clarification Detailed Answer: Hi, From what I understand your son was apparently alright 3 weeks ago. He fainted and subsequently has developed on-off headache and nausea. I am unable to arrive at a conclusion based on the details provided. Some more information about him can help me understand the problem. 1. How did he faint? Can you briefly detail the events? Did he sustain an injury? Did he lose consciousness? 2. Has he been active following the event? How has his appetite been? 3. Is he running fever? 4. What was the opinion of his doctors when you visited the hospital? 5. Was his hemoglobin checked when they tested his blood? If yes, was it in normal limits? Looking forward to your response... Regards

Brief Answer: Hemoglobin is a component in his red blood cells. Detailed Answer: Hi, The commonest reason for paleness is anemia. This is a condition that occurs when hemoglobin composition of red blood cells is inadequate. It is routinely tested through clinical examination and confirmed with specific blood test. If you are not sure the paramedic staff checked that, you can visit his pediatrician and discuss about it. Transient reduction in blood supply to the brain is the most common reason why people faint. If he was fatigued and exhausted while he was walking at the mart, that might have caused circulatory disturbance resulting in fainting. If he was alright after the fall - had not bitten his tongue / lips or passed stool/urine involuntarily, then his doctors response (not enough blood flow) seems right. But if you feel he is very pale and has lot of fatigue these days, it would be better to consult a pediatrician who can examine him independently - check for anemia, evaluate his heart functions and look for other features of common infections. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications. Regards

Brief Answer: Hot flashes may or may not be related... Detailed Answer: Hi, In the current context hot flashes may be related to the following: 1. It is common to experience hot flashes before fainting. It happens to warn people that the are about to faint. 2. Hot flashes are sometimes associated murmurs involving mitral valves. Aortic valve murmurs rarely also causes those hot flashes. You can discuss with his treating doctor if they are related. Besides these two conditions, hot flashes may be unrelated. His treating doctor should be able to provide more reasons to explain these hot flashes. Hope this answers your question. Write back for clarifications before closing the discussion. Regards
