Question: Hi.
I am a fit 71 year old who bikes 80 to 90 miles a week plus work out at least 5 days a week. Suddenly I have lost my speed and can't keep up with the group.

Brief Answer:
Some Ideas.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about your recent difficulties. I must ask, are there any other symptoms involved? To get a full answer to the question you seek, a physical examination by a medical professional would be pertinent. However I can cite a few reasons for why this might be occurring. First and foremost I always consider cardiac conditions, even in healthy individuals; sometimes a genetic predisposition is enough to cause a cardiac event or atherosclerotic buildup. Other reasons for loss of vigor or energy can do with a virus or infection, and or alterations in your chemistry (i.e. hormones, such as testosterone). I would look into these possibilities and present to a physician who can perform a physician and assess such things.

I hope these ideas have helped you get a better idea on where to proceed.
