Might be cataract; consult an ophthalmologist
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in Healthcaremagic.com.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.
I understand your concern.
You have provided a short history and have not mentioned any symptoms other than dimness of vision and near-sightedness. These two together in elderly people like you are very common symptoms of cataract. There can be other causes like optic nerve damage, macular degeneration etc but cataract is far more common. However, I would like to ask some questions like is there any associated pain or watery eyes or whether you see floaters or diminished night vision or sensitivity to bright light etc.
Kindly answer me the above so that I can guide you further.
Also because I cant check you clinically, my suggestion will be to consult an ophthalmologist so that he/she can guide you further after proper clinical examination.
Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
