Question : My 77 year old husband came home from the gym this morning about 9:30 complaining about pain in his prostrate area and feeling all over pain in his back. I took his blood pressure twice: 122/96 and then 110/92. Pulse 96. He has not eaten anything all day, except drink water. He says he is peeing "OK", but his head and arms are very warm, so I assume he has some fever. Both his arms and legs are quite swollen. He refuses to go to the emergency room. He took an aspirin, 81 mg.

Brief Answer:
Detailed evaluation is required.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Detailed evaluation is required and it is better to take him to ER.
The probable cause may be a urethral (tube connecting your urinary bladder and exterior) stone. It can cause in the prostate area and generalized back ache. It can cause fever body pain if there is an associated urinary tract infection. We have to rule out other conditions like prostatis (inflammation of prostate) also. Edema of foot can not be attributed to stone but rarely seen with systemic infection.

It is better to consult a GP and get evaluated soon.
As of now he can take analgesics like acetaminophen for fever and pain. Drink plenty of water too.

Wishing all the best.

Regards
