What Causes Sudden Pain In Neck And Dizziness?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Apr 2016
Question: Sudden neck pain, low-level and in the general area of lymph nodes, accompanied by dizziness. I have IAD, but this doesn't feel like angina. Same pain a few days ago woke me up.
Can I safely assume this is my body fighting some infection that hasn't otherwise manifested?

Brief Answer:
Unfortunately sir, such an assumption would not be wise to make

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Being a doctor I cannot make assumptions when it comes to a patients health, but also reading the symptoms we cannot assume the pain to be associated to an infection as there have been no clinical signs of the same either.

The pain can be associated with anxiety that you mentioned you have, but should also be ruled out for any cardiac issues. Angina can present with the pain source being in different regions, the base of the neck, the mid left arm, the left shoulder, some times the left side of the back, and so on.

So being your well wisher I would first urge you to rule out any cardiac issues by going about a simple EKG, and hopefully when a cardiac cause is ruled out we can check on ruling out/confirming an infection with the help of a blood sample, and if it is ruled out then shift the entire blame to anxiety.

But as of now, these 3 are the possible causes for your presentation sir. If you do have your medical insurance, then why not utilise it by paying a visit to a hospital. Please also do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
