Question : My daughter who has always been thin has gained an abnormal amt of weight in a short time. Now her legs and feet become extremely swollen to a point that you think they would explode.

Thanks for posting on healthcaremagic. Rapid weight gain is indeed a cause of concern. Thyroid hormones are related to metabolism and their deficiency may lead to weight gain. Birth control pills too have the side effect of gaining weight. So with so little details it is hard to comment. I insist that you get the thyroid profile checked along with blood sugar and pressure and get back to me with the report and I would try to help further. In the meantime regular exercise and morning walk are essential.
