Question: I have an infection right cheek causing pain/swelling from my ear down my jaw. It started April 24th 2016 while away on a business trip went to dentist said had an infection tooth, took antibiotics for a week drain the infected area put in a rubber tube to keep the drain open, return to dentist recommended pulling tooth went back to have that procedure done 5/25/16, left no antibiotics, Friday 5/27/16 back in office with ear ache/ cheek and right side of jaw swollen and pain full. Dentist drained area again, this time my cheek continue to bleed, lost a lot of blood where we had to call hospital sent an ambulance. Once I got to the hospital bleeding stop. I am concern that this is has been going on for a month with having same issues.
I am in the need of what could be happening. I also feel that I should check in with my primary doctor.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Tooth infection, cellulitis, radiographs, medication

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the swelling and pain in the cheek is concerned, it can be because of the tooth infection that has resulted in the formation of cellulitis(spread of puss through soft tissues). Nothing to be panic, consult a good oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get a radiograph like orthopantomograph done to confirm the diagnosis. Repeated infections can occur when your immunity goes down or in case of diabetes. So get your complete blood investigations done.
Meanwhile you can take a course of antibiotics preferably amoxicillin with clavulnic acid and metrnidazole (if you are not allergic). Do saline gargling.
Please upload the images of the cheek for better diagnosis.
I hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries reply me back.
