Hello
Welcome to Health care magic
Iam Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
It seems from the history that you are having problem with skin of the eyelids with swollen and pealing of the skin of the eyelids.
This can be caused by diseases of the eyelids like blepharitis, where the margin of the eyelids becomes inflamed and covered by flaky crusts with peeling of the skin of the eyelids. The treatment of this condition is by lid hygiene by cleaning the eyelid margin by using cotton swab dipped in mild warm water. Antibiotic eye ointments or antibiotic steroid eye ointments are used depending on the presence or absence of infection.
The other condition need to be considered is eczema of the skin of the eyelids. It presents with swollen, itchy and pealing of the skin of the eyelids. It usually develops as a allergic reaction and treatment is by using anti-allergic ointments or steroid medications.
However based on the history it is difficult to say whether it is blepharitis or eczema of the eyelids.
It is good that you have stopped use of all creams and it is helping a little indicates probably allergic nature of the disease resulting in eczema of the skin of the eyelids.
If possible do send me a photo of the affected eye so that I can answer your question more accurately.
If the eye lid margin is involved you need to consult eye doctor for treatment of blepharitis.
If the eye lid skin is involved away from the lid margin you need to consult skin doctor for treatment of eczema.
Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
Thank you
It is not on my eyelid it is under the eye were u have bags. My husband says it looks like a welt. Sorry I can't figure out how to send a picture. I thought I said under my eye when I wrote. So do u suggest an ophthalmologist?
Brief Answer:
This appears like Eczema of skin.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up.
As you have mentioned that the swelling and pealing of the skin is present under the eyes away from the lid margins, eczema is the most probable diagnosis.
As I had mentioned in my previous answer this can be because of allergy or chronic infection and the treatment is by anti-allergic drugs or by use of steroids.
Hence I suggest you to consult skin specialist for examination for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
