It looks like a firm of arthritis of the ankle, possibly Gout.
Avoid meat and their gravies, fish, asparagus, beer, high protein diet.
Drink plenty of water daily. Get your blood tested for Uric acid levels. Do get an Xray of the ankle. Apply hot packs to the affected region. Take Tablet Ibuprofen to control the inflammation.

When you mentioned staying away from meat are you referring to all types of meat or just red meat? I work on my feet, would wrapping the ankle be advisable?
