                                            Question : Hi
I had my tonsillectomy about a decade back and i have a swollen gland sort of thing around the tonsil area with white patches. I smoke 2 cigarettes a day! I do not have fever or any cough.
Just that my throat aches on the right side where the swelling is and a bearable amount of pain swallowing food.
It's not cancer I hope or any other issue causing it!
Although I have read of residual of tonsils to regrow.. Is this it ?

                                    Brief Answer:
Most probably it is residual infected tonsil.
Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Thanks for query.
I read your query , rewiew your medication and understand your concern.
After reading your query , it appears that you are having infection in residual tonsils .
If I am yours treating doctor for this case , I would advice continue moxicilin , coredol & dolgen .
Also use antiseptic mouth wash like betadin twice daily .
You will get relief .
Throat cancers are less likely to cause pain & present with hard lymph node swelling in neck.
Better to do ENT consultation & examination , if not done earlier in this case.
Hope this information helpful to you .
Regards .
