What Causes Swelling Beside Right Knee?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Apr 2015
Question: The inside of my right knee is swollen and feels awkward when I bend it or walk. It is bulging inward toward the other knee. I haven't injured it to my knowledge and was wondering if it might be arthritis because several of my family members have arthritis and how urgent the necessity is for me to go to a doctor?

Brief Answer:
Arthritis likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling on the inside of your knee can be due to arthritis or inflammation of the bursae around the knee joint. If the pain is mild and can be controlled by taking ibuprofen then there is no need to worry. You can continue using the knee brace. Doing a hot compress in the area will also help.
In case the swelling increases or the pain is sever then do get it examined by your orthopedician for stronger prescription medicines.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
