Question: I have swelling between my left collar bone and neck/trap. Shoulder hurts quite a bit. I'm thinking i slept on it wrong, but want to know how to differentiate cardiac related shoulder pain and this. It's not radiating and only hurts when I move my shoulder. Thank you for any advice.

Brief Answer:
It is unlikely to be cardiac pain as it only hurts when you move shoulder.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that your pain is muscular and not cardiac as it only hurts when you move shoulder.Rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen will be beneficial.

Cardiac pain is not related to movements of shoulder and muscles. It is aggravated by exertion and relieved by rest. It is associated with other symptoms such as breathlessness, sweating and tightness in chest. Furthermore heart function tests such as ECG, Echocardiography and Angiography are helpful to make final diagnosis. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wishing you good health.
Take care.
