Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that it is important performing a comprehensive differential diagnosis of different causes that may lead to this clinical scenario:
- increased fluid retention, related to heart failure, kidney or liver disease
- chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs
- inflammation such as arthritis,etc.

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests to investigate for the possible causes:

- a cardiac ultrasound and NT pro BNP levels to rule out possible heart failure
- Doppler ultrasound of the lower limb vessels
- some blood lab tests ( complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate, blood electrolytes, kidney and liver function tests).

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask me again if you have any other questions!

Kind regards,.

Dr. Iliri
