What Causes Swelling In Ankles And Feet After An Injury

Question: My husband was hit by a car while waiting for the bus. He was released from the trauma unit after a full exam. His feet and ankles are now swelling. Is this typical after being hit by a car? This was 4 days ago.

The swelling is likely to be due to a hematoma formation in the area.
Since the bony injuries have been ruled out, a soft tissue injury is likely. He need to avoid massaging the area . Do a cold compress on the area of injury.
The pain and swelling might take over a week to subside.
