Question : Hi,
I had unprotected sex about 3 weeks ago with the man I've been seeing for a couple of months. It was the first time we've had unprotected sex and I thought I could trust him. Recently I had noticed unusual sensations in the genital region and sought medical advice. The dr prescribed me a 1g dose of azithromycin and tests for chlamydia, gon and TV (or TC?). I am awaiting those results but since taking the antibiotics (2 days after) I noticed swelling in the pelvic glands on the left side. Initially it was only the one and now seems to have worsened. I am extremely worried that it could be more serious (although the man involved has regular medical checks as part of his job in the defence force). Should I be concerned since the glands only swelled up post treatment?

Brief Answer:
Several STDs can produce lymph node enlargement
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Several sexually transmitted diseases like syphilis, chancroids, herpes, lymphogranuloma venorum and HIV can produce lymph node enlargement in the groin. It would be good for you to see a venereologist , have yourself examined and tested.
