Question : I was trying to lift a very heavy slab of ceramic tile and cement and I seemed to pop something in the left side of my neck. It is all swelled and very sore. I thought I broke a blood vessel but it is not black and blue. There is a big knot.

Brief Answer:
Needs clinical evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I do not think that you have got a tear of any blood vessel of your neck. Rather it is more likely that there has been a partial tear of some neck muscle. The muscle fibres may retract to form a lump and that is probably what you are observing. You need to be examined clinically. I would insist you to visit a doctor who could examine you and guide you accordingly.

Hot compress should provide relief.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
