Brief Answer:
Needs further workup before a final diagnosis is reached

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Such a swelling could be due to a number of causes including improper footwear, trauma, insect bite, an infection especially in the presence of prednisone use, vascular issues like blood clots , arthritis related inflammation etc. Blood counts including CRP/ESR , metabolic profile and imaging of the foot region via x ray and ultrasound can be advised. If necessary joint fluid may also be aspirated. One could only be certain about the cause after the due clinical exam and workup.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
