Hi, I don't remember the name of the antibiotic they gave me but I also had some UTI's and have since taken 2 more antibiotics and still have the swelling on my nose. The other two antibiotics were bactrum and Ciproflaxin.

Also, could this have anything to do with the fact that I broke my nose in a car accident 23 years ago?

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

There are many causes to present like this. Firstly it can be hypersenstivity reaction e.g insect bite but that resloves quickly. It can be infection of the lacrimal sac called dacrocytitis which is painful and tender swelling and responds to antibiotics. Another most probable cause is chronic dacrocytitis which is also with increase lacrimation of the eye because tears are not drained. This does not respond to antibiotics and treatment is by surgery called dacrocystorhinostomy.
Other cause which can cause swelling in this area are sinusitis, salivary gland infammation as you mentioned it extended to the ear. Trauma to the nose can cause swelling but in acute cases only possibilty now is that trauma could have cause deflected nasal septum which is now presenting with complication , fibrosis in the area obstruting the lacrimal duct.
Infection in the nose , polyps, allergic rhinitis, any forieng body are some other causes to ruled out.
Simple investigation is to do x ray or CT PNS. It will clear many things.

You can discuss these options with your doctor.

wishing you best of health

Thanks
