Question: I was at the beach for several hours last weekend. This weekend my right eye is irritated, red and slightly swollen. I received a sunburn over the rest of my body but am recovering just fine. All I have is the swelling and irritation of my right eye. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
visit eye clinic

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

I share your concerns about your eye and sunburn. In my opinion you have got some foreign body like sand particle in your eye. That might have got impacted in conjuctiva of your eye, and now causing irritation and redness. Other possibility is chemical conjunctivitis as sea water is very salty and there are several chemicals in the water.

In either case, you need to visit an eye clinic for examination. Impacted sand particles need to be removed by the doctor. You will require a short course of topical antibiotics too. Keep washing your eye by clean water.

Take care in future. I wish you good health. Best wishes
