What Causes Swelling Near Lips After Eating Chocolates?
Question: After eating chocolates I have some swelling near lips area. I am also suffering from severe itching in palms during that period. can you help?

There are two types of allergic reaction.
1. Immediate
2. Delayed.
Immediate reaction occurs within minutes to hours.
Delayed type of reaction occurs within 48-72 hours.
And swelling of lips with severe itching of palms are seen in allergic reaction only.
So you are having mostly delayed type of allergic reaction.
You may need oral antihistamines and antiallergic. Oral steroids may also required.
You may also need topical (local site) antihistamine and steroid.
Since all these are prescribed drugs, you need to consult doctor for prescription.

Thanks for reply. I just wanted to know is the problem severe and will I not be able to eat chocolates forever? Please let me know that do I have to visit allergist or normal physician?
