What Causes Swelling On The Right Side Of The Neck?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: The right side of my neck feels swollen. It is not exactly swollen(i.e, no visible lumos or anything). I just feel as if there is something swollen inside. What can cause these? Is this a cause of concern?

Brief Answer:
need more details and observation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, greetings!
Thanks for posting your query in hcm.

You details are too less for me to arrive at a diagnosis.
I would like to know few more details, like
Do you have any difficulty in swallowing or breathing?
Have you had any throat infections or allergies in the recent past?

If you are comfortable, you may wait and observe for any improvement.
In the meantime you may take over the counter antihistaminics like diphenhydramine 25 mg twice a day, in the morning and night for the next 3 days.
In case there is no improvement/ worsening, then it is very important to rule out any pathology by getting an examination by an ENT specialist.

If you have any further doubts/ clarifications, you may get back to me.
Regards,
Dr. Sonia

Hi, I have no trouble breathing or swallowing. I met an ENT. He said he could find no lumps or anything and the throat seems clear. I took a thyroid test and it came back normal. I just have a minor discomfort. No pain.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome back.

If your examination is normal and lab results are all fine, then you have nothing to worry. As I mentioned earlier, you may wait and watch. In the meantime you may take an antihistaminic like diphenhydramine for a period of 3 days.

Regards.
