Brief Answer:
Swollen tongue followed by headache and vomiting could be due to allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your question.

Swollen and throbbing tongue with inability to talk followed by vomiting and headache could be due to an allergic reaction to something that your son might have eaten and bit into or put in his mouth.

However, I need some clarification regarding the sudden inability to speak, was it because he was having difficulty moving his tongue because it was swollen or did he have difficulty thinking the words to speak?

If it is the later then it could indicate a neurological problem which needs a thorough work up including an MRI urgently.

Considering all the symptoms together, I suspect it to be due to food poisoning/allergic reaction to something.

You will need to consult your local doctor or go to the ER and make sure it is not serious.

And also try and find out what he might be allergic to.

Vomiting after standing up from lying down position indicates a sudden drop in the blood pressure that leads to giddiness and that could induce vomiting. (happens in allergic reactions)

Please consult your PCP or take him to the ER and get him evaluated.

Hope this answers your concerns, please feel free to write back to me if you have doubts.

Wishing your son a speedy recovery.

Best regards.
