Brief Answer:
Bursitis likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the images attached. The swelling with mild pain above the knee is likely to be due to pre patellar or suprapatellar bursitis.
The inflamed bursa may have a fluid collected inside due to an inflammation. The main treatment of such a condition is rest to the knee and anti inflammatory medicines. Doing a hot compress will also help. You can use an elastic knee brace for proper support.
Do consult your orthopedician for a physical examination and in case the swelling increases or pain persists then local steroid injections can help.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
