Question : I have a very swollen and sore throat, no other symptoms really. I was a little nauseous yesterday. Allergic to penicillin.
Brief Answer:
It cam be quinsy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
Such symptoms are usually caused by a bacterial infection of the throat (tonsils). It can be a beginning of quinsy. Fever can be present. Lymph nodes around the jaw can be enlarged.
Unfortunately, similar symptoms can appear due to viral infection.
It is very important to distinguish this two possible reasons. Viral infection does not need to be treated with antibiotics.
Bacterial infection has to be treated with antibiotic ( Clindamicine at your case).
It would be good to have it checked by a doctor.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
