Question : I have swollen ankles and sharp pain in both of my calves. and my bp has increased
Brief Answer:
Need to rule out heart failure, thyroid disorders and clots in the veins
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
Are you on any medication for blood pressure control?
Have you been tested for Thyroid disorders?
Certain medication can cause swelling of the ankle which are generally used in treating high blood pressure.
Sometimes clots in the veins in the calf can cause swelling in the ankles and calf. I advise you to get a 2D colour Doppler of the veins in the calf.
Do get tested for ECG and 2D ECHO to rule out heart failure which can cause ankle swelling.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
