Swelling of ankles is not a normal phenomenon, it indicates some abnormality. It can be due to many causes . Some causes are Low protein levels in blood, problems in kidney or heart , thyroid problems or improper blood circulation in legs .

I suggest the following tests in patients with swollen ankle. They will help us identify the cause.
Complete Hemogram, Serum Albumin , Serum Creatinine and Serum TSH . Your local doctor will know about them.

Also if you are taking any medication for any purpose kindly let me know.
