Question: my daughter has been taking bactrin and antibiotics for lymphangitis...spelling?
She is done with the meds today but the last 3-4 days her face has swollen in a variety of places.
first it was her lips..the lower lip on the right side was inflamed but only on the right side. It subsided a day or two later. Then a couple of days after that the upper lip on the right side was inflamed on the same side only.
Today it is her chin.
She has been to the ER several times to get all of this taken care of. help?

Brief Answer:
Let her stop this medication!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

These are side effects of bactrim. This medication should be immediately stopped and her doctor informed about it. She should probably be given another drug without sulfonamides for her her lymphagitis. Also, always remember to report this allergy to all future physicians.

I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

She has stopped the meds. The last one taken was Wed morning. Anything she can do now to reduce the swelling and stop other further instances from occurring?

No meds please?

Brief Answer:
She should never take it again!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The most important thing to do is to stop the drugs as she has already done. Let her refrain from taking it ever again in future.

I will like to review an imago of the swelling before making further recommendations. This will guide me to provide personalized and helpful response to her.

Brief Answer:
No need for added medications!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed the attached images fully((4). These symptoms are not too terrible and would resolve without the need of any further drugs. I often resort to medications only when nothing else can do the job. In this case, I will not recommend any medication at this time.

Let me know if this settles well with you.
