Question: I got a perm on sunday night by Monday night the back of my neck was red and spots so I took 2 Benadryl and a shower to make sure no chemicals left on me even washed the hair even though it ruined my perm. went to nurse practioner today and he prescribed hydroxyz hcl 50mg only twice a day and triamcinolone .1% cream twice a day. My face is swelling and and the red patches are still beat red could this be a chemical burn?

please send a photo image for inspection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. Considering all the information that you have provided, this would be more likely of a chemical burn than allergy. However, I will like to have an image and review before concluding on this.

For treatment, cleansing and keeping it dry and sorry would be the best choices for now unless they get super infected which is not the case right now. Do yo have any pain or itches? If so, let me know.

In all, likely a chemical burn. Cleansing with an antiseptic would be sufficient for healing. I will appreciate and image for further insights and confirmation.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

I sent some close up pictures as well but you can see in pic 5 that my left side is swollen and behind my left ear there is a knot about 4mm round. and it feels like something is in that ear
thank you XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the images. I have had the chance to first hand appreciate what the rash looks like.

This is a sort of chemical burn. It would take time to heal. You really do not need to do anything special for now. Keeping it clean and bearing with the temporary esthetic changes on your face would be the best actions to take now. The symptoms would resolve as spontaneous healing sets in.

The knot is a reaction to the inflammation caused by the burn. It represents a swollen lymph node and this is entirely normal. They would all get sorted with healing which should be spontaneous.

I hope this addresses your worries. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if that is necessary.
