Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Cause could be water retention, inflammation, venous insufficiency, heart, kidney or liver disease. It can be permanently cured by treating the cause.

You can do several things-
Limit your salt intake; salt makes your body retain water and may contribute to swelling.
Attempt to stay off your feet as much as possible and elevate your feet above the level of your body when you lie down. Try to reduce excess body weight, which increases pressure on your feet and contributes to poor circulation.
Stay active and exercise often. This will promote circulation and may remove excess fluids from your feet.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care

Thanks doctor for your response however while I follow your advice, is there no suggested medication that can assist the process?. I forgot to indicate in my initial enquiry that i was experiencing a feeling of cramp on the feet, the very first time i would step down from my bed every morning ,but that feeling stopped a longtime now.

Brief Answer:
Medication will depend upon the exact cause .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Medication will depend upon the exact cause of the swelling.Cramps are often caused by overuse, dehydration, or nutritional deficiencies. Most of the time, these cramps occur for no known reason, and they're usually harmless.

Hope this helps you.
