Question : I'm on Cardia for SVT but I noticed sometimes my feet swell where I can't see my angle bone and my fingers swell where I can't take off my wedding ring . But it goes down also it's not all the time . What is the side affect of this medicine I been on this medicine since 2006

Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that Cartia may be associated with several side effects; with limbs edema being demonstrated in certain individuals.

But before concluding on a potential implication of Cartia, it is necessary to investigate for other possible causes of edema such as right heart failure; hypoproteinemia, inportant kidney dysfunction.

In this regard some medical tests are recommended:

- cardiac ultrasound,
- plasma protein level,
- complete blood count,
- kidney function tests

If the above result normal, then you should discuss with your attending physician on the possibility of chanding Cartia aith a betablocker drug.
