What Causes Swollen Kidneys During 28 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

Question: Hi,
I am 28 weeks pregnant with single pregnancy and until now, all my ultrasound scans were normal. Today, I went for the Doppler test and the radiologist told me that my baby has one swollen kidney. I am a bit concerned on how this will impact the growth of my baby and if I need to to anything to prevent any complications. I have uploaded reports from my Level 2 scan as well as Doppler scan.

Brief Answer:
As below
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
I have gone through all uploaded reports in detail.
The Doppler scan is normal apart from slightly swollen one kidney.
In more than 90 percent of cases, this is normal physiological mild swelling and subsides in future scans or after delivery.
Amniotic fluid volume is normal and. baby growth is normal, ruling out any major abnormality.
Please get repeat scan done after 2-3 weeks and this swelling would decrease or disappear mostly.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further
