Posted on Tue, 12 Apr 2016
Question: Hi, I was diagnosed with shingles 10 days ago, the red rash came out on top of my right leg, from the knee up.
Prior to rash I had excruciating pain in upper right leg doctor thought it was from my spinal stenosis and severe back problem, L3-L5 I have rods &screws.
My question I have swollen lymph nodes in right groin and achy burnt pain on my whole right torso and right
Buttock. It is feels like severe sunburn with chills. Is this normal and how long could this last?
Thank you, XXXXXXX R.

Brief Answer:
Its normal and shall last for 1-2 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting your query

Well shingles can causes swollen lymph nodes near the region it affects, in your case the groin.

Also shingles can caise minor nerve damage at and around the site of lesions resulting in increased sensitivity or burning or pricking sensation. But this will go off by itself is 1-2 weeks.

But if the sensation is bothering you too much then you can use certain medication like Pregabalin which decreases the intensity of that sensation. Ask your doctor for the prescription.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Yes it can happen.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Yes it is quite normal to have nerve pain at regions other than where skin lesions are found but it will be on the same side of the body ( I mean if you have skin lesions of right side then you will have nerve pain on right side of body not on left side )
