                                            Question : Hello,
I had HPV, and then a few abnormal pap-smears (medium grade). After two abnormal ones, the next two have been normal, so I guess the cells fixed themselves. For almost a year now, I've had a swollen submandibular gland. My doctor says that I shouldn't worry about it, but could this be an indicator of cervical cancer? Could these two be related?

                                    Brief Answer:
HPV goes away without treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to address your query.
Mild to medium grade HPV generally goes off/restores to normal without any treatment.Swollen submandibular gland is not related to HPV infection.Do not panic.
I would instead suspect formation of stone and blockade of the duct in the submandibular gland which normally results in accumulation of saliva in the gland leading to infection, swelling and intermittent pain. Have been experiencing any of these symptoms since an year now?If yes, how frequent are they?
I would order X-ray, labs(culture) and FNAC if required to identify the cause of swelling.
Hope this answers your query.
