Brief Answer:
He has likely some psychotic disorder, consult psychiatrist soon

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.I can understand your concern for your son.

Talking to self, laughing alone and socially aloof are symptoms of psychotic disorder. If these symptoms are there since more than 6 months possibility of schizophrenia is there.
We need to rule out physical condition by routine physical check up and substance abuse by detail history as medical condition or drug abuse can cause these type of psychotic symptoms sometime.

For diagnosis detail history and mental status examination are to be done by psychiatrist. After diagnosis treatment can be started.
Earlier the treatment starts better the results. I would request you to consult psychiatrist as soon as possible for better outcome.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
