Question : Woke up this morning with a painful and tender bump on the back left side of my head. Nothing else going on besides that. Should I be concerned or relax for a few days first?

If you had no history of recent trauma, such a symptom usually indicate a soft tissue infection (folliculitis). This needs early institution of antibiotic treatment along with analgesics. Usually this resolves by 5-7 days of treatment.
Also, we will have to drain pus collection if any.

Kindly see your doctor without delay to prevent progression of infection and further complications.
