What Causes The Inability To Walk For About A Minute After Waking Up?

Posted on Mon, 25 Mar 2024
Question: Inner left ankle. Every morning for 3 months or more, when I get out of bed and apply pressure to my foot I cannot walk on it for about 20 or 30 seconds. Then limp for about 30 seconds and it is fine, no pain the rest of the day. Unless I take pressure off the foot when sitting for a while, it repeats the same process. Have had exray and no breaks. Got a new job and on my feet for hours. I am 58 yrs old. I am flat footed.

Brief Answer:
Possible Plantar fasciitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am

I can certainly understand your concern

As per your symptoms, the possibility of plantar fasciitis is very high. This condition occurs due to prolonged standing.

This causes pressure on soft tissue of the foot resulting in inflammation.

This require a comfortable and a cushioned foot wear for minimising pressure on foot.

I generally prescribe a short course of oral analgesic medication like Diclofenac sodium as well as gel to my patients with such symptoms.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to improve your symptoms.
