default
Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: Every time I lie down I feel the urge to urinate. I am urinating 3-4 times a night for the past two weeks. Could this be a kidney stone related issue? Prostate related? I am 55 year old male. Getting to be a problem because I am not sleeping. Thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Urine analysis should be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptom can be caused by several issues including kidney stone, urinary tract infection, prostate enlargement, chronic kidney failure or even diabetes.
Urinary tract infection gives also lower abdominal pain, burning while urinating, fever.
Kidney stone gives back pain, lower abdominal pain which radiates to the groin.
Prostate enlargement gives also weak urine stream.
Chronic kidney failure can give leg swelling, foamy urine.

As you can see there is a lot of issues which can give such symptom. I suggest you to consult your doctor and have urine analysis done at first. For prostate diagnostic please consult urologist.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
